Genetically Modified Organic Food? Print E-mail

Despite efforts to protect crops and native plants, genetically modified organisms continue to cross-pollinate with them, argues Jeffrey Smith.  He cites numerous examples ranging from midwest corn, to golf course grass to Hawaiian farmed and wild papayas.  The authorities responsible for preventing contamination under-estimate the ability of the wind, insects and other animals to disperse pollen and seeds.  Furthermore, contamination occurs when the same equipment is used to store or harvest crops.  The public increasingly rejects GM as global awareness grows, so even the possibility of contamination is enough to cause rejection of purported GM-free products.  This loss of market share pressures GM producers to curtail their marketing efforts and demonstrates the growing impact of public awareness...  Full Article in Well Being Journal Volume 14, Number 1.

Low magnesium can be the cause of anxiety, depression, headaches, poor sleep, leg or foot pain, palpitations, muscle twitching and leg cramps, blurred vision or mouth ulcers. Doctors rely on blood tests for explanations.
